Description:
Psychological First Aid is the "acute intervention of choice" when responding to the psychosocial needs of children, adults, and families affected by disaster and terrorism. Developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD, with contributions from other individuals involved in coordinating and participating in disaster response, Psychological First Aid is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping.

Additional Information:

Six hours of Continuing Education credit has been requested for LPC & LMFT mental health professionals, including 1 hour of ethics.  Six contact hours have been approved for Registered Nurses, as well as CLEET credit which includes 2 hours mental health.   This training meets the continuing education requirements for Clinical Psychologists.

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.#UOC-0616 Approval Active May 31, 2013 - June 30, 2016.

 

Registration will be from 0830 to 0900.  Training will begin at 0900.  Lunch will be on your own from 12 - 1 pm.  Note that Comanche County Health Department's Wellness Policy requires 15 minute physical activity breaks at meeting longer than 1 hour.
