Description:
Psychological First Aid is the "acute intervention of choice" when responding to the psychosocial needs of children, adults, and families affected by disaster and terrorism. Recently developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD, with contributions from other individuals involved in coordinating and participating in disaster response, Psychological First Aid is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping.

Additional Information:

Six hours of Continuing Education credit for mental health professionals (LPC, LMFT, LSCW, and LADC), including 1 hour of ethics credit has been requested and Continuing Education for CLEET and Registered Nurses has been approved. This training meets the continuing education requirements for Clinical Psychologists. 

The University of Oklahoma Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approver American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Registration will be from 0830 to 0900.  Training will begin at 0900.  Lunch will be on your own from 12 - 1 pm.
