Cleveland County Medieval Fair

This year's OU Medieval Fair will be March 27-29, 2015 at Reeves Park in Norman, 2501 Jenkins Ave, Norman, OK. You will have to park at the Lloyd Noble Center located to the south of the park. I am working on parking passes. We will be setting up beginning on Wednesday and Thursday. If you are available for a little general labor work and can help put together the display, please let me know. All help is appreciated. This year we are transitioning from hosting our display on the Bubonic Plague to more of a service support mission. The display will still be put up, just in a different manner. We will be providing a minor "band aide" site, along with increasing the number of golf carts made available to assist those unable to return to their vehicles under their own power. In addition we will support EMSTAT to return anyone they have medical contact with and need to return to their car. We have an excellent opportunity to fill the gap this year. The Red Cross may not be present for the fair and we can fill that gap for being the central point for minor injuries and referral to EMSTAT. A larger tent for cooling/warming (as the case may need) will be in place and monitors for it are needed. Role players willing to don period clothing and address the audience to the plague display are needed. Following the Fair, labor is needed to dismantle the display and put everything away. Both volunteers with medical background and non-medical background will be needed. The schedule will be fluid but looks something like this: March 25th 12-5, begin the equipment load transport and some set up March 26th, 10-5, Set up display, tents, pre-stuff any packets, establish roles March 27/29, Work the fair at assigned shifts March 30th, Break down display and return equipment to storage, prepare for April event in Moore. March 27 9-12:30, 12:30-3:30, 3-7:30 March 28 9-12:30, 12:30-3:30, 3-7:30 March 29 9-12:30, 12:30-3:30, 3-7:30 March 30 9:30-? Don't think that if you cannot work a full shift that you shouldn't volunteer. Any and all time is needed and appreciated. You should have your MRC ID or a CERT ID, MRC Shirt or CERT Vest/Shirt. Be prepared for cool weather and possibly rainy conditions. I will have some items to drink, but will not have food available. Big Turkey legs are always good from the vendors. If you do not have an ID contact me. This event will draw 2-300 THOUSAND people the park and is a great opportunity to get involved. Contact David Grizzle to volunteer or for more information: david.grizzle@normanok.gov or (405)292-9780.
