Mumps Response in Garfield County

Mumps Outbreak MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE IS NOT NECESSARY. Garfield County Health Department has, at times, been experiencing an influx of patients coming in to be examined for signs and symptoms of mumps. The Health Department's objective is to keep those individuals experiencing signs and symptoms of mumps away from those individuals coming to Garfield County Health Department for normal clinic operations. Furthermore, because the incubation period is around 12-25 days, the request for MRC Volunteers may be continued for a longer period of time. Garfield County Health Department is requesting two MRC volunteers per day. MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE IS NOT NECESSARY. One volunteer will be stationed at triage table at the entrance of the health department, directing patients that may be showing signs and symptoms of mumps to the appropriate areas of the health department to be examined. The other volunteer will be stationed in a reception area passing out face masks to those who report signs and symptoms related to mumps and show them to an examine room. Please be advised - VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE THEIR MUMPS VACCINATION WITH DOCUMENTATION OR HAVE HAD MUMPS BEFORE IN ORDER TO VOLUNTEER FOR THIS ACTICATION. Preferable availability a minimum 4 hour shifts. Shifts will be in 4 hour increments, starting at 0800-1200 and 1300-1700 days available are Monday thru Friday until the end of October. Please sign up for your preferred shift. Please wear MRC T-Shirt and Badge. Comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes are recommended as you may be on your feet. Weather permitting, volunteer may be triaging and directing patients from under a covered area outside. Chairs, water, and some snacks will be provided.
