Nursing Student Externships

The Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps has established an externship for nursing students in multiple nursing programs across Oklahoma. A pilot program, launched in the summer of 2015 at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Nursing, serves as a model. The summer of 2016 expands the externship to the University of Central Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Northwestern Oklahoma State and the University of Tulsa. This externship program allows nursing students to develop and apply public health nursing skills focusing on emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and community resiliency.
