Date/Time: Additional Information: Point of Dispensing (POD) Operations Training
If a bioterrorist attack or widespread disease ever occurs, Tulsa Health Department (THD) will open temporary emergency “Points of Dispensing” (PODs) to provide emergency medical countermeasures to protect against the threat. It is vital to have our OKMRC volunteers and THD employees trained in specific roles to begin dispensing/administering medications to Tulsa County residents. In this training, you will learn about THD’s role in the Strategic National Stockpile, POD operation requirements/positions and dispensing procedures.
The Tulsa Health Department will be conducting a full scale exercise at OSU Tulsa on October 24th. In preparation, a training about Flu POD Operations will occur to enhance knowledge about the interworking of a Point of Dispensing Site (POD), as well as roles and responsibilities of POD staff. Full Scale Exercises allow THD to practice and improve Tulsa County’s Emergency Operations Plan and Mass Immunizations and Prophylaxis Strategy (MIPS) Plan for real world public health events.
