The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2020 Guidelines Update for CPR. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for community environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration, students receive a Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid course completion card, valid for two years.
