Comanche County: Salvation Army Shelter Medical Assistance

Jan 31 2023

MRC has been requested to provide medical/first aid to patients at the Salvation Army shelter in Lawton OK. We are looking for EMT basic and higher credentials. The clientele will most likely include the homeless. Our MRC volunteers are not running this shelter, although should be able to identify any potential medical emergencies and ensure that first response is notified. The primary Salvation Army shelter is not ADA compliant, therefore those individuals who utilize a walker, wheelchair, or are an amputee are unable to navigate the stairs to access the shelter area. No personal care should be required as all individuals who utilize the Salvation Army shelter are expected to be able to maintain their own cleanliness and care. This shelter is expected to primarily serve those needs listed above. We are looking for 1 volunteer per shift (more would be great). Shifts will be in 6-hour segments, with no shift coverage from 12 midnight to 6 am. 1-30-23 6 am - 12 noon 12 noon - 6 pm 6 pm - midnight 1-31-23 6 am - 12 noon 12 noon - 6 pm 6 pm - midnight 2-1-23 6 am - 12 noon David Collins who is the Shelter operations manager will oversee and manage this ADA shelter including any paperwork needed.
