Tulsa County Saint Francis Hospital Full-Scale ExerciseOKMRC Volunteers have been requested to assist Saint Francis with their upcoming Full-Scale Exercise (FSE). As a condition of their Level 1 Trauma Certification, they must exercise their patient surge plans frequently. Their next FSE will be a trauma surge exercise involving both the Saint Francis Hospital and Saint Francis Children's Hospital on 30 October. The FSE will begin at 11:00 am and run until 3:00 pm. OKMRC volunteers will serve as role players during the FSE. Role players will be given symptomology tags (no moulage) and will be moving throughout the hospitals (e.g., OR, ICU, etc.) as appropriate. The scenario will include 100+ victims. These exercises are always FUN and not only give our hospital partners great practice, but also allows us to see how things work behind-the-scenes as well. Plus, you may even be assigned to be a child. Who wouldn't want to get to be a kid again? Volunteers will need to be onsite at Saint Francis Hospital (main) by 11:00 am for a briefing, assignment of "injuries" and lunch. We'll kick off the exercise at noon, with all of the patients "arriving" at the Trauma Emergency Center and the Pediatric Emergency Center by 12:45 pm. This exercise will be testing the Saint Francis staff's (medical & non-medical) ability to effectively triage the patient surge, but the main objectives of the exercise involve the surge capacity and capabilities of the OR, inpatient nursing units, and the Patient Logistics Center to effectively decompress the hospital and then absorb the influx. Most of the volunteer role playing will take place beyond the emergency department. Sign up ends on 13 October, so please sign up now! This will be LOTS of FUN and extremely helpful in preparing for and managing large surge events! Saint Francis Hospital Full-Scale Exercise
