NWS Norman Storm Spotter Training - EdmondNWS Norman Storm Spotter Training Date: Thursday, March 29th Time: 6:30pm to 9:00pm (ish) Location: Edmond Fire Station 5 Meteorologists from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman conduct storm spotter training sessions each year to help prepare spotters for the upcoming severe weather season. The NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service and access to communication, such as amateur radio, to participate as a Skywarn storm spotter. Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are also encouraged to become a spotter. Although anyone can participate, this training is geared toward storm spotters in the NWS Norman county warning area, including central and western Oklahoma and western north Texas.
