Skin Deep Initiative - Wright City Public Schools

Choctaw Nation MRC Unit volunteers provided water and skin safety instructions and necessary precautionary supplies, including sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, and lip-balm, to local children at the local Choctaw Nation Clinic. Volunteers also distributed culturally sensitive water safety storybooks with the precautionary supplies. These combined activities resulted in lowering the vulnerability to drownings, skin cancer, and the transmission of viral infections and therefore increasing disease prevention and improving public health preparedness.
