Many advances in medical care have come from the military. Military emergency medicine has made significant changes in the manner they deliver care, and it has resulted in a considerable decrease of those who die from injuries that are considered to be preventable causes of death. Civilian emergency medicine has begun to transition the military lessons learned and include advances in the way medical interventions are performed in a high-risk environments (i.e. natural disasters, active threat situations, man-made events). This is an extremely fun, interactive course that is guaranteed to share the primary intervention skills for the most common causes of preventable death injuries.

 

Topics Include:

 

- Care Under Fire/Direct Threat Care

- Basic Tactical Field Care/Indirect Threat Care

- Self Aid/Buddy Aid

- Bleeding control: Pressure bandages, extremity tourniquets, hemostatic agents, junctional tourniquets

- Chest Wounds: chest seals

- Basic Airway Management

- Hypothermia prevention: hypothermia kits

- Patient Extraction/transportation Techniques
