Description:
Psychological First Aid is the "acute intervention of choice" when responding to the psychosocial needs of children, adults, and families affected by disaster and terrorism. Developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD, with contributions from other individuals involved in coordinating and participating in disaster response, Psychological First Aid is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping.

Additional Information:

Registration will open at 8:30.  Parking is available in the north lot.  Do not park under the covered area. Lunch will be on your own. This training is jointly provided by the Oklahoma County OKMRC Unit and the OKMRC Stress Response Team. 

This training is recommended for all OKMRC volunteers! At the 2026 Volunteer Workshop July 31 and August 1 there will be an activity which requires PFA training. 

***This activity has been approved by the Georgia Nurses Association for contact hours.  Georgia Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

CE for social work and LPC/LMFT also available. 

This training's instructors are provided by the OKMRC Stress Response Team.  Presenters are Loren Stein, MSN, RNC-NIC, Craig Long, LPC-S, CFRC, and Stephanie Marfurt, PhD, RN.
