OK County: Winter Preparedness Drive

We are excited to announce the 7th Annual Winter Preparedness Drive, running from Monday, December 2nd to Monday, December 16th! All donations will benefit the Homeless Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Oklahoma County.

According to the recent Point in Time Count, which provides an annual census of unhoused individuals in OKC, 1,838 people were identified in 2024—an increase from 1,436 in 2023. Affordable housing remains a significant challenge in our city, with individuals earning minimum wage needing to work 79 hours per week just to afford a one-bedroom rental (Point in Time Count 2024).

OKMRC volunteers have shown incredible dedication to supporting our community's unhoused population. Last winter, OCCHD staff and OKMRC volunteers donated over 635 items as part of the Winter Preparedness Drive.

This year, the Homeless Alliance is requesting new or gently used, gender-neutral items for both men and women, including:

Sturdy pants
Blankets and sleeping bags
Gloves and hats
Coats, and jackets
Rain ponchos
Long-sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies
Bras, belts, and shoes (sneakers, boots, or tennis shoes with no heels)
Additionally, new men’s and women’s underwear are needed.

Donation boxes will be placed at the following OCCHD locations: North (2600 NE 63rd ST), and Sequoyah (2400 NW 36th ST). We will be accepting donations from Tuesday, December 3rd to Monday, December 16th.

Please sign up for a shift if you would like to drop off a donation! You can drop the donation off any time between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM! We ask people to sign up so we can keep a record of OKMRC participation! Please contact julia_reynolds@occhd.org with any questions.
