Norman Conquest Bicycle Ride

The Bicycle League of Norman has requested MRC Volunteer support again in 2025 for a rest stop, hydration station, and basic medical first aid for one of its rest stops for the 2025 Norman Conquest.  The map of the route is attached below and we will support the location at 180th south of Post Oak Rd, at the Cedar Country Volunteer Fire Station. Cyclists like to ride in groups because no one likes to ride alone, and no one likes to be left behind. The same can be said about life in general, but many children face daily struggles with being alone and falling behind due to developmental disabilities, and that is why the Bicycle League of Norman has dedicated so many years of support to the J.D. McCarty Center. For nearly two decades, the Bicycle League of Norman has committed tens of thousands of dollars in proceeds from its annual Norman Conquest cycling event to support the children and staff at J.D. McCarty, and we invite you to join us in this commitment. New This Year - Our proceeds will be divided between the J.D. McCarty Center and establishing a Bike Club in Norman. Bike Club is an after-school program that introduces cycling to elementary and middle schoolers. The Norman Conquest is one of Oklahoma's oldest cycling events, attracting hundreds of bicycle riders each year from across Oklahoma and around the region. Always scheduled in early July, cyclists ride 62 miles and a variety of shorter distances through eastern Cleveland County's undulating countryside. The ride is known for its summer heat and those who can overcome the substantial hills walk away with a sense of pride, and even conquest. Because of its support for the community and its advocacy for fitness and healthy lifestyles, Norman has embraced the Conquest ever since it was established in 1997.   The race begins at 7 am and the course closes at 1 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025.  We are requesting Cleveland County MRC Volunteers to work shifts from 7 am until Noon and would like to request a combination of 10 Medical and Non-Medical Volunteers. Parking available along the road near the Volunteer Fire Department.  POC to report to is David Grizzle 4052459522.
