OK County: Winter Preparedness Drive

We will be hosting our 8th Annual Winter Preparedness Drive Monday - Friday, Tuesday, December 2nd - Tuesday, December 9th! This year’s donations will support the Homeless Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness in our county. The Homeless Alliance operates a Winter Shelter that provides emergency overnight housing for anyone needing protection from the cold. The shelter offers 300 beds and even includes a kennel area for pets. In 2023 alone, they provided safe shelter to 3,538 unique guests and their pets.

OKMRC volunteers have a long history of coming together to support our unhoused neighbors. Last year, OCCHD staff and OKMRC volunteers donated 249 winter preparedness items—thank you for your continued generosity!

The Homeless Alliance is requesting new or gently used:

-Blankets
-Adult tennis shoes or work boots
-Jeans (men’s and women’s)
-Gender-neutral coats, jackets, or hoodies

If you don’t have coats, blankets, or boots available and purchasing items isn’t feasible, other local nonprofits can always use hats, scarves, gloves, and HotHands/body/toe warmers. I’ll ensure these items are delivered where they’re needed most.

Donation boxes will be available at the following OCCHD sites: North (2600 NE 63rd ST), South Clinic (6728 S Hudson Ave,
Oklahoma City, OK 73139), and South Annex (5900 S. May, Oklahoma City, OK 73119).

Donations will be accepted December 2nd–9th 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Please sign up for a shift below if you are interested in donating!! Please contact julia_reynolds@occhd.org with any questions.
