Western OK: Roof Tarp InstallationOKMRC has received a special volunteer request to assist disaster victims in western/ SW Oklahoma from the flood/tornado events in 2024. These are families who could not qualify for FEMA assistance in a declared disaster and still need tarping on their roofs. We are first trying to gauge OKMRC volunteer availability in the locations listed below on Saturday 13th & 20th at this time. The families are currently being case managed through Catholic Charities, who requested OKMRC for volunteers to assist with installing 8 tarps on roofs of wood frame homes or trailer roof homes. There is a strong probability some (but not all) of these roofs will be taken care of by other organizations. We are looking for volunteers available on December 13 in various locations in Caddo County & December 20 in . If we have enough volunteers, we could have concurrent teams working in the area. We have one tarp install trained person who will be leading this project and if you have training or are familiar with the tap install process, please let us know. OKMRC volunteers should be able to: -Climb a ladder We will be able to warm up and take breaks as needed, and there will be refreshments/snacks. We would like for the families’ roofs to be tarped before Christmas and are planning for the Saturdays below. We tentatively plan start time on 0900 both Saturdays. We are currently gauging volunteer availability at the following locations at this point. Saturday December 13- Tentatively in Caddo County locations: Carnegie, Gracemont, Cyril, Anadarko, Ft. Cobb
